EU Tourism mentoring
This Leonardo Transfer of Innovation brings the cost-effective means of developing both staff and standards in the hospitality, leisure, travel and tourism sector (HLTT) in the UK – the application of mentoring techniques – to the same sectors in Slovakia, Romania and Lithuania.
The project wass a development of the Partnership Action for Tourism project – a small Leonardo Partnership – that identified the potential need in other EU nations for the introduction of mentoring to this sector. In seeking to find emergent HLTT sectors that would benefit and also indicated their welcome of mentoring techniques, we identified the following partners:
In addition to Gecko Programmes, the other active partners in Europe were:
The project had a partner, Shine, with extensive experience of developing mentors in the UK’s HLTT sector. We had designed workshops that took place in the other partner nations, each delivered by Shine.
The partners from Slovakia, Romania and Lithiania recruited persons who were recognised experts from the sector in each of the partner nations, and brought them together into workshops to be trained as mentors.
The project organised two pilot workshops for mentoring and partners matched mentees to these fresh mentors.

In September 2015 VSI Saretas, in collaboration with all partners organised a dissemination event in Kaunas to showcase the results of the project.
The EUTM project has ended in September 2015. The partners are now further looking to seek ways to develop organisations and people through mentoring.
