Creative youthwork Network
Creative Youthwork Network is an Erasmus+ Key Action 2 project launched in 2016. The project aims to develop a new approach to strengthen the education and training paths of youth workers by developing their capability to design, resource, and facilitate media and arts themed workshops that are attractive and educational for young people.
The Network is made up of five organisations from four countries: REDEA (Croatia), Gecko Programmes (UK), Wolverhampton Community Radio Training (UK), EDUcentrum (Czech Republic) and the Open Circle Association (Hungary).
The project will first design and deliver a workshop that develops skills and competencies in youth workers to act generically to design and facilitate educational workshops aimed at engaging and inspiring hard to reach young people, such as NEETS (young people not in education, employment or training). Then the workshop builds the skills of youth workers to design, resource, and deliver themed workshops. Having contributed to the overall design of the workshop, each of the project partners will send youth workers to participate.
The project culminates in each of the partner organisations designing a themed workshop that is relevant to their nation/ region. This will result in a bank of themed workshops made available as open educational resources, that each of the partner organisations can offer to young people.
Throughout June 2017 Gecko, along with Wolverhampton Community Radio Training, hosted workshops with learners from all partner organisation, enabling participants to work with Radio DJs, Musicians, photographers, artists and drama professionals. Check out some of the photos below!
